After giving birth, your body changes — sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly, and that’s totally okay. The goal of tights during this period is comfort, gentle support, and a good feeling of movement, without unnecessary pressure and without “fighting” for size.
Important note: If you had a complicated birth/surgery/continuous pain, you should consult a doctor or pelvic floor physiotherapist before returning to activity.
1) Comfort first: what should feel “right”
Good postpartum tights:
- Does not press hard on the stomach
- Does not slip when bending over/lifting a baby
- Does not create abrasions
- It's nice to sit with him for a long time.
2) Choose the right cut for this period
Usually most convenient:
- High and soft waist: gives a feeling of stability without “suffocating.”
- Wide waistband: Distributes pressure more comfortably.
- Elastic but not “stiff” fabric: moves with you, not against you.
If you have sensitive stomach area:
- Look for a less “compressible” fabric
- Sometimes one size up in the first period feels more right.
3) How to measure at home to choose a size easily
If you don't have the strength to guess:
- Waist circumference measurements (at the navel or slightly above, wherever is comfortable for you)
- Hip circumference measurements (widest part)
- Compare to the size chart on the website
Tip: During this period, your hip/waist can change — so it's best to choose based on your current measurement, not your "pre-pregnancy" measurement.
4) What to do if you are “in between sizes”
Simple question:
- If you want tights for everyday wear/light walks → the larger size will usually be more comfortable.
- If you're already returning to training and want stability in your hips → you can go for the smaller one, only as long as it doesn't cause pressure/pain.
Mirror check:
-
Small squat / sit-up / knee lift
If the tights stay in place and don't bother you, that's right.
5) Transparency and resilience in a time of “real” movement
After giving birth, you move around the house a lot:
- Pick up a baby
- bend
-
Go/get organized quickly
Therefore, it is worth emphasizing: - Good tightness in movement
- Non-irritating seams
- Fabric that doesn't "wrinkle" quickly
6) Proper washing to keep it looking good
To make tights last:
- Cold wash/up to 30°
- Turn side
- Without conditioner (if possible)
- Drying onions / avoid strong dryer
Brief summary
The “right” postpartum size is the one that fits you now—not the one you used to. Choose a high, soft waist, comfortable fabric, and a size that allows for breathability and movement.
